2012 Anoka County Polar Bear Plunge to be Held Feb. 11
The annual fundraising event for Special Olympics will take place at Crooked Lake this year! This annual event supports more than 7,100 Special Olympics Minnesota athletes, as they train, compete and work together year-round, to grow as athletes and members of their communities.
Anoka County’s first annual Plunge will be held at Crooked Lake in Coon Rapids, and will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11. Pre-plunge check-in will occur at from 4:30pm-7:30pm, and check-in at the Plunge site itself will begin at 10:30am- 1:30pm. Registration on the day of the Plunge will take place at Crooked Lake Park, 13180 Crooked Lake Blvd NW, Coon Rapids MN 55448. In its 15 years of existence in Minnesota, the Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge has grown from one Plunge site to 15, and this is the first year that Anoka County has participated in the Plunge. On the plunge day, plungers and spectators will be provided with a free shuttle service to the plunge site from Andover Lanes in Andover and Broadway Pizza in Coon Rapids beginning at 11:00 and returning after the plunge.
